Wisconsin Business Council Mission

The Wisconsin Business Council will work with citizens, elected officials, and policy-makers to identify, craft and implement a pro-business agenda that advances the economic, educational and social policies required to energize and secure Wisconsin’s economic future and protect its quality of life.

To these ends, the Wisconsin Business Council will encourage a collaborative dynamic in which leaders from Wisconsin’s business, governmental, civic and academic communities:

  • engage and inform each other in a search for mutually beneficial solutions and approaches to the challenges and opportunities facing Wisconsin’s economy, the millions of people who depend upon it for their livelihood and the governmental services it helps to support;
  • strive to enhance public, governmental and business appreciation for, and sensitivity to, the synergy between the essential needs and realities of Wisconsin’s various economic enterprises and the state’s equally critical quality of life; and
  • energize and support Wisconsin’s public and private efforts to promote Wisconsin as a good place to live and do business.

How we intend to accomplish such an important agenda:

  1. Hosting policy-maker lunches with our members, where YOU get to ask the questions of key leaders and decision-makers.
  2. Meetings with legislators to help craft common sense rules and regulations that provide both a cost and benefit solution.
  3. Focusing on revisions to existing laws that will enable businesses to lessen compliance burdens without stripping important public protections.
  4. Allowing our members to set the tone and pace of our agenda, leading to more expedient and efficient results.

“In this era of unprecedented challenge and opportunity, Wisconsin business must participate in the collaborative effort to modernize and revitalize our economy and protect our state’s special quality of life. To do that, we must actively engage Wisconsin’s elected officials, policy-makers and citizens in a collaborative search for wisdom about, and agreement on how best to respond to, the critical challenges and opportunities affecting our economy in education and work force development, economic development, infrastructure management, and regulatory and tax policy. I believe the Wisconsin Business Council understands both the responsibility this combination of challenges has produced and the unique opportunity it represents. It is an important new addition to the Wisconsin business community’s professional representation, and I urge my colleagues across our state to join us in this important undertaking.”
