Tomorrow’s Business Objectives Today

These are difficult times for Wisconsin. Doing nothing is not an option. The business community has already applied considerable thought and talent to assessing a number of critical issues, all of which underscores the central question of the day – “What should we, as business leaders, do now about the myriad of challenges confronting us?”
Systemic Challenges
Individually we confront these challenges to the best of our ability when they strike our work places – one customer, one worker, one pay check, one regulatory issue, one financial question, one shareholder at a time. We cannot, however, identify, develop and implement the larger approaches and solutions required to address Wisconsin’s systemic economic and business challenges one work place at a time. Instead, to provide the vision and leadership Wisconsin needs, we must act collectively and collaboratively as members of the Wisconsin Business Council.
Concrete Results
Members of the Wisconsin Business Council are leaders who want to see concrete results from the time and energy they commit to understanding the challenges and opportunities of doing business in Wisconsin. More specifically, the Wisconsin Business Council is dedicated to helping its members create and protect a sustainable pro-business environment in Wisconsin that is solidly grounded in the people’s and the government’s recognition of, and respect for, the critical and unique contributions Wisconsin businesses make to the quality of life in our state.
Collaborative Strategy

To these ends, the Wisconsin Business Council will encourage a collaborative dynamic in which leaders from Wisconsin’s business, governmental, civic and academic communities:

• engage and inform each other in a search for mutually beneficial solutions and approaches to the challenges and opportunities facing Wisconsin’s economy, the millions of people who depend upon it for their livelihood and the governmental services it helps to support;

• strive to enhance public, governmental and business appreciation for, and sensitivity to, the synergy between the essential needs and realities of Wisconsin’s various economic enterprises and the state’s equally critical quality of life and;

• energize and support Wisconsin’s public and private efforts to promote Wisconsin as a good place to live and do business.

Ultimately, the Wisconsin Business Council wants to see good ideas generate good public policy and sound operating practices as quickly and efficiently as possible. We think that means that Wisconsin’s business leaders have to interact effectively with their counterparts in the governmental, civic and academic communities, and to that end, the Wisconsin Business Council is committed to making sure that our members have a seat at the table and will be heard.
